:: I know where I'm going and I know the truth, and I don't have to be what you want me to be. I'm free to be what I want. . ::

Let the colors within you shine

Lately I have been very facinated by MC Escher's works. Escher was what some might call a mathematical artist. He drew paradoxes, or things that contradict themselves, deeming them untrue. My favorite piece of work drawn by him is this (ALL RIGHTS go to MC Escher):
Each hand is drawing the other. They are both interdependent on one another. Without one hand the other cannot exist and vice versa. That's how the world should work. Without interdependence between countries the world would blow up. Not just by bombs or whatever new technology has been created recently, but by emotions  and needs and wants; we need each other. When countries form a bond, and then break it, they can no longer coexist side by side. War breaks out. One country is destroyed, if not literally then their economy, social basis, trade system, and morality is.

Interdependence is the key to life. We see it all around us. Within cells; cellular respiration cannot occur without the products of photosynthesis, and vice versa. A child cannot function without the parent, and often vice versa is true. The chicken cannot appear without the egg but the egg needs to be laid by the chicken.

Without interdependence, what is someone to do? I must rely on things but things also rely on me. Without interdependence the world's balance, social, political, and economic structure, and the basis of morals would fail to exist. We cannot let that happen.

My dear friend, I'm at a loss for words.

This post is just too lovely - All of it. The writing, the photos......They're all simply amazing. YOU are simply amazing, Sara. And gosh, do I love Escher - he's one of my favorite artists. Amazing photos and wise words, m'dear. Bravo.

I have to agree with Frances here--I couldn't have put it better myself.
Lovely, Sara.
Your words have so much truth in them. Dad always told me, "If the garbage man didn't pick up the rich man's garbage, all the rich man's garbage would pile up, and what would happen then? The rich man surely wouldn't want to do that himself, most likely."
It's a bit of cliche, but it has a kernal of truth within it.
But Sara, m'dear, absolutely true.
So very much.
